Normal 0 0 1 99 568 4 1 697 11.1282 0 0 0 The Merlin Nationals held at HISC were eventually won by Andy Davis and Tom Pygall from Blithfield SC, after a 2 hour match race with Geoff Carveth and Graham Williamson from HISC.
The match racing started after a general recall before the 2nd start gun, with Davis protesting Carveth and gaining the upper hand whilst Carveth performed his turns. Then a gruelling match started, with them both starting several minutes behind the rest of the fleet and it carried on throughout the entire race, with Davis preventing Carveth moving up the fleet to gain enough points to beat him. Carveth eventually broke the stranglehold and managed to get ahead, but too late to gain back enough places.
